On Burning sound at live 365.com. Big respect to Dave O , This young lion send I and I a free show every month. you can hear the love and energy in his show. Dave O from the 700 Strong Crew tune in to the positive vibes.Dave O Yes I we will chant them down with music. No force stronger than music...
I would like to take this time to inform all Burning Spear fans not to buy any t shirt or Live in South Africa / Mistress Music/ Love and Peace and Calling Rastafari CDs from eBay or any web site or store. Reggae music have for years attract all the illegal hustlers for some reason they feel it’s their rights to exploit our music and culture. I am not interesting in any meeting with regards to what happen to us with regard to distribution. The only way this matter can be resolve is in the courts. I have heard all the story about he say and she say. Now it’s time for the fact only. Keep your story for the Judge. No more drama now it’s time to handle business the way it was to be handle in the first place. We have nothing to hide and know that the Judge will make sure we are paid in full for every CD that we manufacture and paid for. The burden of proof will be on you, not even the best lawyer can save you, and sorry to say you ruin your case with poor judgment. Your world is full of hate and greed and jealousy and racism and ego. The war you have created will only be fought by you, where you are now I would never want to be so unhappy and afraid yet protest that you are strong. I will never surrender to anyone that tried to make a criminal out of Sonia for defending our rights. You have cross all the line you could have cross I pity you and your staff. Since you are so right and we are the fools why would you need to meet with fools and criminal. You should be happy to meet with the Judge to show the world how stupid I and Sonia are that we need you to tell us how much we are paid. While you have all our money for the sales of thousand of CDS.
Many record labels will continue to manufacture and sell record even though their right with the artist has expired. This is the reason we the reggae community need to attend convention like NARM to educate ourselves, Know our rights and file law suit against all these label that still continue this practice. Take my word for it the word get around that we reggae artist don’t care, they think we are not educated, and cannot make decision for ourselves. Don’t let anyone rule you with fear, they need us more than we need them, and we must get the law in the mix and take control of Our Music. I made sure to trademark and copyright the name Burning Spear , and I will never give anyone any rights to manufacture CDs or merchandise with the name Burning Spear. What I have done was to search the web and purchase all the CDS that are being sold illegal, and send them in to the right authority. We have also now hold Sound Exchange and ASCAP responsibility to collect all publishing that were being collected and send to record Label that had no rights to collected these money. They must by law repay us all the money they collected on our behalf.
We kept every check that was send to us; we did not cash them so they cannot say we were paid. Know your rights don’t get intimated never take their word and don’t sign any contract unless you have a good lawyer. Know who you are working with by doing your research. We study all the dirty tricks of the few illegal records labels. They will take your money then send you a bill. The lists of tricks they will play on us are too long for this page. Know your rights and don’t be afraid. I need none to represent me; I and Sonia alone have and will represent Burning Music Production. We are grass root, our style is different not many understand how we survive all these years. The more they tell us we cannot the more we say yes we can. The sprites that live inside of us guide us daily. Oh what a joy to be love by the universe, not fighting against the flow of nature. Nice and easy it the only way to flow. The hotter the battle the sweeter the victory.
How can I explain NARM so the reggae community can understand how important it is for us to participate in music convention like NARM? This is the Burning spear experience of NARM, I find NARM attendee to be all about music. I have met so many wonderful people with a passion for music. I must say this was the first time I attend any form of music conference and I am very happy I did. I wanted to see the music community and feel their vibes and I did so many positive vibes of real music lovers. To quote a music insider” Man music is not about drama it’s about selling and paying artist so simple, why make it complicated”.
What I learn is that all these people used to work with one record label or another and knows the in and off of the business. They respect Sonia and I coming to NARM to make history as the first reggae artist own label. I was so honor and touch by all the people we met at NARM, while in the lobby just sucking up the energy of the room. This tall gentleman walk up to me to say he saw me at Jazz fest and was so happy to finally meet me face to face at NARM, he when on to say some nice things about my music, Sonia ask him what your name sirs, he told us his name, I will not mention it here, but I can tell you he was a big senior Vice President of an major record company. What we came to understand these men and woman knows the entire trick in distribution, we listen and learn.
The music business at this time is bad for records labels so I am warning all reggae artist be careful before you sign any agreement, know your rights about digital sales, as record labels now wants to control everything. I saw how much we need to come together as one with a strong plan.
While attending a booth I met this music lawyer, he was asking a lot of question about the different things he saw. He them ask Sonia a few questions about herself and her label and why she choose the route she was taking musically, Sonia resist at first to answer his question to make a long story short our story blow this lawyer mine big time. Attending NARM was education for us, we learn so many things we are so happy, we don’t have any intention of sitting here and don’t educate ourselves. We are living life in the moment only, yesterday is gone and old news cannot become new, news.
We all can only be happy when we live in the present only, have no fear of what tomorrow might bring. Jah is always at the control not man. Remember to be slow to react to any news you might hear, Let people talk some will say good and some will say what they think will hurt you. Just humble yourself and watch how easy some will hurt themselves if you or I don’t react to their words of hate. We have talk about the power of No; now let’s talk about the sweet sound of yes. Yes for you and I to make up our mine, yes to stand tall and proud knowing you have the courage to say yes just for you. Meet the new you with a smile and a hug for today your light have shine to put out the darkness of fear.
These are the face of two that join as one to paid the price for freedom of reggae music. we have suffer for too long
